CCP, If you KNOW that you're going to be tinkering with the server (like, I don't know, UPGRADING the Hardware?), how about an announcement before it happens?
Come on Devs, let's see a response here.
This was TOTALLY messed up.

Wow, I bet you've been waiting weeks to use that, ever since you saw it posted.
Unfortunately, you have not learned when it's use is appropriate. Just so you know for the future, "Can I have your stuff?" is appropriate when someone announces that they are quitting. You'll notice in my post that there was no quitting announcement.
I hope this helps you to be a better troll in the future.

In my opinion, skillpoints have nothing to do with it, and neither does the pittance that an hour costs.
The issue as I see it is the distinct lack of communication.

LOL It's 5:30 AM here, and I have to be at work in 2 hours, so no adult refreshments for me.

And now we're back to "cannot connect", and still no communication.

Originally by: GouldFish Now lets see the downtime has always been an hour give or take. yes it's not sent in stone it will only take an hour so deal with it.
So you want to take a dev away from doing there work of trying to get the servers back up and running just to post a quick message saying wait abit longer!!!
Come on how many of you can say: That when something went wrong that you were working on, the first thing you did was tell some one. Not as we all do try and fix it first!
Right, for unexpected things and emergencies.
But this was an UPGRADE, a planned thing, where there was additional hardware and they knew IN ADVANCE that it was going to happen.
So, before it does happen, how about CCP notifies the playerbase that they are upgrading the hardware and that the downtime may be extended?
Are you saying that this doesn't sound reasonable?

Originally by: Gothikia ... your lucky we're getting a hardware upgrade in the first place, geez...
"Luck" has nothing to do with it.
They have to upgrade the hardware or the game will be unplayable. And then they'd lose money. It's a simple business decision.

Originally by: Serpensis If the servers are down for dt for 1 hour each day, what do you care if they upgrade it, or talk it for a stroll?
*sigh*
Explanation for the slow people (Serpensis):
Some of us only get to play for a couple of hours a day during the week. The time I get to play during the week is right after the server comes up.
Today CCP installed a Hardware Upgrade (which must have been planned, no?) and the downtime extended for an extra hour and a half. This ate up most of the time that I had available.
If there had been any notice from CCP, I could have gone and done something more interesting.
I'm glad others get to spend time playing, but I think that it's important that the people that maintain the game keep us informed of planned unavailability.
